A two-day shutdown of a major Cambridge intersection will likely cause traffic slowdowns in historic Downtown Galt September 22-23, 2026.
Road repairs at Main Street and Water Street North are planned from 4 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22 until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23.
The work will also close the Main Street bridge across the Grand River.
Pedestrian traffic will be around the work zone for the Region of Waterloo road project.

Main Street Summer closure
Main Street between Ainslie and Water streets remains closed to vehicle traffic until October 5, 2026.
The city block closed to cars and trucks on May 25, 2026, creating room for a summer-long pedestrian-only plaza in the historic business district, including on-street events.
